  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

  • In another shallow dish, lightly beat the egg and water until fully combined.
  • In a third shallow dish, mix together the panko breadcrumbs and the remaining 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  • Dredge each onion ring in the flour mixture, ensuring to shake off any excess flour.
  • Dip the floured onion ring into the egg mixture, letting any surplus egg drip off.
  • Finally, coat the onion rings with the panko mixture, pressing lightly to ensure it sticks well.
  • Generously coat both sides of the onion rings with cooking spray to promote even browning.

Cooking

  • Place the coated onion rings in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring not to overcrowd them.
  • Cook at 375°F for approximately 10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy, flipping the onion rings halfway through at the 6-minute mark.
  • Once cooked, cover to keep warm while you cook any remaining onion rings.
