Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts Pound to an even thickness for consistent cooking.
  • 1 cup olive oil For coating the chicken.

For the Breading

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Use plain or seasoned breadcrumbs.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Freshly grated is preferred.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper

For the Sauce and Topping

  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Can substitute with different cheeses.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a shallow dish, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Coat each chicken breast with olive oil and then dip it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
  • Place the coated chicken breasts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and crispy.
  • Remove from the oven and top each piece with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella.
  • Return to the oven for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

This dish pairs well with pasta, garlic bread, or a fresh salad. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
