  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced Adds depth of flavor.

For the Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Provides umami flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce Find in the international aisle of supermarkets.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Thickening agent for the sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce Sweet and savory component.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Adds richness to the flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon sugar Balances the flavors.
  • 1/2 cup beef broth Enhances the sauce’s richness.

Instructions

Preparation of Sauce

  • In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and beef broth. Whisk until smooth and set aside.

Cooking the Beef

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the beef strips in a single layer. Sear for about 5 minutes, or until browned and nearly cooked through.
  • Avoid overcrowding the pan; you may need to work in batches.

Adding Aromatics

  • Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Adding Broccoli

  • Toss in the broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp.
  • If using frozen broccoli, allow for an extra couple of minutes.

Bringing it Together

  • Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and veggies fully, about 2-3 minutes.

Serving

  • Dish out your Beef and Broccoli onto plates and enjoy hot!

Notes

Consider garnishing with sesame seeds or sliced green onions for a touch of color and crunch. Serve with steamed jasmine rice or stir-fried noodles.
