Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is softened at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Reduce or omit if using salted butter.

Add-ins

  • 1 cup pecans, chopped Toasted pecans can enhance the flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture until just blended.
  • Fold in the chopped pecans.

Baking

  • Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze them for up to three months. Don’t overmix the dough and keep an eye on the cookies while baking.
