  • 1 piece Steak (ribeye, sirloin, or your preferred cut) Choose your favorite cut of steak.
  • 1 tbsp Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tbsp Black pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 2 tbsp Butter For basting.
  • 4 cloves Garlic (whole cloves) Adds flavor while cooking.
  • 2 sprigs Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme) Enhances aroma and taste.
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil For searing.

Preparation

  • Take the steak out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature.
  • Preheat your cast iron skillet over high heat.
  • Generously season the steak with salt and pepper on both sides.

Cooking

  • Add olive oil to the skillet and bring it to a shimmer.
  • Place the steak in the skillet and sear for about 3-4 minutes on one side until a crust forms.
  • Flip the steak and add butter, garlic, and herbs to the pan.
  • Spoon the melted butter over the steak as it cooks for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare.

Serving

  • Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve the steak hot, sliced against the grain.

Notes

Let your steak rest after cooking to keep it juicy. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness (130°F for medium-rare). Experiment with different herbs and seasonings for added flavor.
