Homemade Meatballs

  • 1 lb Ground beef You can also use turkey or veggie alternatives for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs For extra flavor, add grated Parmesan cheese.
  • 1 cup Grated cheese Mozzarella or provolone is recommended.
  • 1 tbsp Italian spices Use a mix of your favorite herbs.

Rich Marinara Sauce

  • 2 cups Marinara sauce Homemade or store-bought.

Hoagie Rolls

  • 6 pieces Hoagie rolls Choose fresh, crusty rolls for best results.

Cheese Topping

  • 2 cups Shredded cheese Mozzarella or provolone for melting.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Combine ground beef with breadcrumbs, grated cheese, and Italian spices to make the meatball mixture.
  • Roll the mixture into small meatballs and lightly brown them in a skillet.

Cooking

  • Add the browned meatballs to a pot of simmering marinara sauce and cook until heated through.
  • Slice open the hoagie rolls and toast them lightly under the broiler.
  • Fill each toasted roll with meatballs, marinara sauce, and plenty of cheese.
  • Place the filled subs under the broiler until the cheese is melty and bubbly.

Serving

  • Remove from the oven, serve hot, and enjoy!

Notes

Use day-old bread for hoagie rolls to better handle toasting. Leftovers can be transformed into a pasta dish or frozen for up to 2-3 months.
