  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) Use for added crunch
  • vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Pour the cherry pie filling into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Evenly sprinkle the yellow cake mix over the cherry filling.
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix, making sure to cover as much of it as possible.
  • If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Best served warm. A scoop of vanilla ice cream on top adds a creamy richness. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
