Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats Use old-fashioned oats for better texture.
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter Creamy or chunky, as per preference.
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup Preferably real honey or maple syrup.
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips Optional; can use dark chocolate chunks.
  • 1/4 cup protein powder Vanilla or chocolate flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the rolled oats, natural peanut butter, honey (or maple syrup), and protein powder. Stir the mixture with a spatula until fully combined.
  • If you’re adding chocolate chips, fold them in gently. The mixture should be thick enough to form a ball and sticky to the touch.
  • Use your hands to scoop out about a tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Continue shaping until all the mixture is formed into energy balls.
  • If your hands get too sticky, lightly moisten them with water.
  • Place the energy balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, allowing them to firm up and the flavors to meld.
  • Once set, transfer the balls to an airtight container or a resealable bag for easy snacking.

Notes

These energy balls are best enjoyed chilled or at room temperature. For a lovely presentation, arrange them on a decorative platter or in a mason jar. They can also be frozen for up to three months.
