  • 1 cup heavy cream Can substitute half-and-half for a lighter option.
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped Fresh basil recommended for optimal flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances the flavor of the sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For cooking the chicken.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning the chicken.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds richness to the sauce.

Instructions
 

Cooking the Chicken

  • Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Season the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet.
  • Cook until each side turns golden brown and the chicken is cooked through, approximately 5-7 minutes per side. Use a thermometer to check that it reaches 165°F.
  • Remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate, covering with foil to keep warm.

Preparing the Sauce

  • In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Stir in the chopped basil and grated Parmesan until melted and the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet, coat in the sauce, and simmer for another minute.

Serving

  • Serve immediately while hot, garnished with additional basil and a sprinkle of Parmesan if desired.

Notes

For best texture, do not overcrowd the pan while cooking chicken. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
