Preparation

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chicken sausage and sizzle for 5–7 minutes until golden.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for about a minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in broccoli florets and cook for 2–3 minutes until they start to soften.
  • Stir in orzo, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the sausage brown longer; swap Parmesan for Romano for a sharper taste; use gluten-free pasta if desired. Leftovers can be transformed into soup or patties.
