Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use good quality for best flavor.
  • 2 cups chow mein noodles Can substitute with gluten-free alternatives if needed.
  • 1 cup candy eggs For topping.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second increments until smooth. Stir every 30 seconds, about 1-2 minutes total.
  • Add the chow mein noodles to the melted chocolate, gently folding until fully coated. Be careful not to crush the noodles.
  • Shape the mixture into nests using a spoon or your hands, placing them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Each nest should be about 2-3 inches wide with a hollow center.
  • Allow them to cool and set for about 10 minutes. Once slightly firm, reshape if needed, then top each with a trio of candy eggs.
  • Let the nests cool completely at room temperature to allow the chocolate to harden.

Notes

Store Chocolate Bird Nests in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days or refrigerate for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a single layer for up to three months.
