Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 3 medium/large bananas, very ripe
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter and flour a bread loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the lightly beaten eggs and mix well.
  • Mash the ripe bananas and add them to the mixture along with the vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.
  • Fold in 3/4 cup of chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Transfer the batter to the prepared bread pan, and sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips over the top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
