Cake Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 4 pieces eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Food coloring (red and green)
  • Your choice of frosting (cream cheese or buttercream)
  • Holiday sprinkles

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined.
  • Divide the batter into two bowls. Add red food coloring to one bowl and green to the other.
  • Spoon the red and green batters into the prepared pans, alternating colors. Swirl gently to create a marbled effect.

Baking

  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool completely before frosting them.

Frosting and Serving

  • Frost the cakes with your choice of frosting and decorate with holiday sprinkles.

Notes

Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Use gel food coloring for more vibrant colors. You can prepare the cake layers a day in advance and frost them when you are ready to serve.
