Ingredients
  

Base Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers Arrange in a neat single layer.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter At room temperature for easy melting.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Adds depth and richness.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Semi-sweet or dark chocolate.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts Optional, can use walnuts, pecans, or almonds.
  • sea salt For sprinkling on top.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.

Caramel Mixture

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring continuously until it comes to a boil.
  • Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the mixture is bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.
  • Let the chocolate melt for a few minutes and then spread it evenly.
  • If desired, sprinkle with chopped nuts and sea salt.
  • Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.

Notes

Use a sturdy baking sheet for even baking. Don't skip the sea salt as it elevates the flavor. Experiment with nut choices for fun variations.
