Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef Use fresh for best flavor.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Can be substituted with rolled oats.
  • 0.5 cup chopped onion Chop finely for better distribution.
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup ketchup For additional flavor, more can be used on top.
  • 2 pieces eggs Bind the mixture together.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, ketchup, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
  • Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
  • Spread additional ketchup on top, if desired.

Cooking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until cooked through.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Classic Meatloaf can be served with mashed potatoes, green beans, or a salad. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Allow it to cool completely before storing.
