Ingredients
  

For the Burgers

  • 1 lb ground beef Choose 80/20 fat content for juicy burgers.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Burger buns You can use brioche or whole grain buns.
  • Lettuce Use fresh leaves.
  • Tomato slices
  • Onion slices
  • Pickles

For the Secret Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp pickle relish
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  • Divide the ground beef into equal portions and shape them into balls.
  • Mix all the secret sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.

Cooking Burgers

  • Place the balls on the hot skillet and smash them down with a spatula to create a thin patty.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes.

Assembly

  • Toast the burger buns on the skillet.
  • Assemble the burgers by spreading secret sauce on the bottom bun, then adding the patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.
  • Top with the other half of the bun, serve, and enjoy your homemade smash burgers.

Notes

If you have any leftover burgers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Keep toppings separate to maintain freshness. Reheat patties on a skillet before assembling.
