Cake and Ice Cream

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix Follow package instructions for baking.
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream Let soften at room temperature for easy spreading.
  • 1 quart chocolate ice cream Let soften at room temperature for easy spreading.
  • 1 container whipped topping Use for frosting the top.
  • to taste chocolate syrup For drizzling over the top.
  • to taste Oreo cookies Optional for crust.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Bake the chocolate cake according to package instructions. Cool completely for about 30-45 minutes.
  • Slice the cooled cake in half horizontally to yield two layers.
  • Place one layer of chocolate cake in a springform pan. Optionally crush and layer Oreos at this stage.

Layering

  • Spread half of the vanilla ice cream evenly over the first layer of cake.
  • Add the second layer of chocolate cake on top of the vanilla ice cream.
  • Spread half of the chocolate ice cream over the second layer.

Finishing Touches

  • Top with whipped topping, smoothing it out for a polished finish.
  • Drizzle chocolate syrup over the top creatively.
  • Sprinkle crushed Oreo cookies on top if desired.
  • Freeze for at least 4 hours until the cake is firm.

Serving

  • Let the cake sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve slightly chilled, possibly with extra chocolate syrup and fresh mint leaves for garnish.

Notes

Assemble and freeze the cake a day in advance to save time. Slice with a warm knife for clean cuts.
