  • 1 cup sugar Adjust based on your taste.
  • 1 cup water Essential for the right consistency.

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 stick cinnamon Adds warmth and spice.
  • 1 zest orange Adds a citrusy flair.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse the cranberries under cold water, removing any stems or bad berries.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water and sugar. Stir gently and bring to a soft boil.

Cooking

  • Once boiling, add the cranberries and cinnamon stick (if using).
  • Lower heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • If using orange zest, add it now and stir to combine.
  • Remove from heat and let cool; the sauce will thicken as it sits.

Notes

Make ahead of time; it can be stored in the fridge for days. Can also be frozen for up to three months.
