Cooking

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion until the beef is nicely browned and the onion is soft and translucent. Drain any excess grease.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the meat and stir to combine. Cook for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Slowly pour in the milk while stirring to avoid lumps. Allow the mixture to bubble gently.
  • Continue to cook, stirring frequently until the gravy thickens, about 5-10 minutes.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Serve the creamed hamburger gravy over toasted bread or warm biscuits.

Notes

Use a heavy-bottomed skillet for even heat distribution. Keep stirring while adding milk to avoid lumps. Adjust the seasoning to your family’s taste.
