  • 2 lbs carne asada Can substitute with flank steak or skirt steak.
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, diced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice Fresh lime juice is preferred.
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Corn tortillas

Toppings

  • cilantro Freshly chopped for garnish.

  • avocado Sliced or diced.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place the carne asada directly into the crock pot, ensuring it’s spread out evenly.
  • Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced jalapeño to the pot.
  • Pour in the beef broth, followed by lime juice, cumin, and chili powder. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Stir everything together until well combined.

Cooking

  • Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  • Once cooked, remove the carne asada from the pot and shred it using a fork.

Serving

  • Serve the shredded carne asada in warm corn tortillas with various toppings.

Notes

Store leftover carne asada in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe bag.
