Preparation

  • Peel and core the apples, slicing them into chunks.
  • Place the apple slices into your crockpot.

Cooking

  • Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar to the apples. Stir gently to coat.
  • Pour in the water to keep it from sticking.
  • Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours, checking occasionally.
  • Blend the mixture until smooth using an immersion blender.
  • Pour the apple butter into jars and allow to cool before sealing.

Notes

This apple butter can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. It can also be frozen. Consider using a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor.
