Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix (any flavor) Use any flavor of your choice.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or mix-ins (sprinkles, nuts, etc.) Feel free to customize with your favorite mix-ins.

Optional Topping

  • to taste powdered sugar for dusting Optional, for garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This step is crucial as it ensures even baking.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until everything is well combined—no dry lumps should remain. This should take about 2-3 minutes of stirring.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips or your choice of mix-ins, incorporating them evenly throughout the batter.
  • Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan generously, then pour the batter into the pan. Spread it out evenly, making sure to reach all corners.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes. The bars are done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, and the edges are slightly golden.

Cooling and Serving

  • Once baked, allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan for at least 20 minutes before cutting into squares.
  • For an extra touch, dust the cooled bars with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-5 days. For longer storage, freeze the bars individually wrapped for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator or microwave briefly before serving.
