Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Important for a smooth dough
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • food coloring for icing
  • assorted sprinkles for decoration

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredient combination until a cohesive dough forms.
  • For added fun, divide the dough into portions and mix in food coloring.

Baking

  • Roll the dough into balls and place onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space in between.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Decorating

  • Once cooled, whip up some icing and decorate the cookies with your favorite colors and sprinkles.

Notes

For optimal taste, serve cookies at room temperature. These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 5-7 days, or frozen for up to 3 months.
