Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  • Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the pastry if using.
  • Layer the sliced ham evenly over the pastry and sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top.
  • Roll the pastry tightly into a log and slice into 1-inch pieces.

Baking

  • Place the pinwheels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Beat the egg and brush it over the pinwheels for a golden finish.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

These pinwheels are best served warm. Pair them with a light salad or fresh fruit for a complete meal. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days, or freeze for longer storage. Roll the pastry tightly to help the pinwheels hold their shape.
