  • 1 cup uncooked white rice Ensure to measure uncooked rice.
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup Use any brand of French onion soup.
  • 1 cup water Can be adjusted based on rice type.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar) Feel free to use your choice of cheese.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.
  • optional chopped onions and garlic Add for extra flavor.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain the excess grease.
  • Add the French onion soup and water to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  • Stir in the uncooked rice, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove foil, sprinkle the shredded cheese on top, and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a side salad or steamed vegetables. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in a microwave or oven.
