Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour This is the backbone of your bread! All-purpose flour gives a soft, chewy texture.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp) Essential for that lovely rise, don’t forget to check the expiration date for maximum fluffiness!
  • 1 teaspoon salt A little salt goes a long way in enhancing the flavors of your bread!
  • 1 tablespoon sugar This helps feed the yeast and adds a hint of sweetness.
  • 1 cup warm water Aim for 110°F; too hot can “kill” the yeast, and too cold will slow things down.
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil Adds moisture and richness—plus, it makes the bread oh-so-good!
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic infuses that incredible aroma and flavor into the dough.
  • 1 tablespoon mixed herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme, oregano) Dried herbs add a wonderful depth; feel free to use your favorites.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Melty goodness! Provides creamy texture and pulls.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese For an extra flavor kick and that irresistible savory touch.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Add olive oil, minced garlic, mixed herbs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
  • Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle and sprinkle cheese evenly over the top.
  • Roll the dough up tightly and then twist it to create a swirl.
  • Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Ensure your water isn’t too hot. Allow the dough to rise fully for the best results. You can use different types of cheese or herbs based on your preference. Leftovers can be turned into delicious garlic bread sandwiches.
