  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until well combined.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm with milk or top with vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze with parchment paper between layers. Don’t overmix the dough for tender cookies. Add an extra yolk for chewiness; experiment with chocolate types.
