  • 1 Tbsp olive oil For cooking
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 1 lb mushrooms, sliced Any variety
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt, adjust to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper, adjust to taste

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat a heavy, deep pan over medium-high heat with olive oil.
  • Add ground beef and stir to break it down into tiny pieces.
  • Add diced onions and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent and golden brown.
  • Add sliced mushrooms and sauté for another 5 minutes or until the mushrooms soften.
  • Sprinkle in the flour and stir until fully incorporated.
  • Pour in beef broth, heavy whipping cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  • Turn the heat to low and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in sour cream until well combined.

Serving

  • Serve over egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For thicker sauce, add more flour or let it simmer longer. You can add vegetables like peas or carrots for extra nutrition.
