  • 2 pieces ripe avocados
  • 1 unit lime, juiced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 unit tomato, diced
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • as desired cilantro (optional) Fold in for added flavor.

Preparation

  • Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
  • Using a fork, mash the avocados until you reach your desired consistency, whether smooth or chunky.
  • Squeeze in the lime juice and add the diced onion, tomato, minced garlic, salt, and pepper to the bowl.
  • Stir everything together thoroughly and taste for seasoning. Adjust salt, pepper, or lime juice as needed.
  • If desired, fold in the chopped cilantro at this stage.
  • Transfer the guacamole to your serving dish, and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Guacamole is best served fresh, at room temperature or chilled. Consider garnishes with extra cilantro or lime slices. Store leftovers in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed against the surface to minimize browning.
