Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados Look for avocados that are slightly soft to the touch, indicating ripeness.
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 1 lime, juiced Lime helps prevent browning.
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1-2 jalapeños, minced (optional for spice) If unavailable, consider using a dash of hot sauce for similar heat.
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Slice the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl. Use a fork or potato masher to mash to your desired consistency—smooth or chunky works.
  • Stir in the chopped onion, diced tomatoes, minced garlic, and jalapeños if desired.
  • Squeeze the juice of one lime into the mixture, and add salt to taste. Lime not only adds flavor but also helps prevent browning.
  • Combine all the ingredients thoroughly, ensuring even distribution of flavors.
  • Adjust seasoning with more lime or salt as needed. The guacamole should taste fresh and bright.
  • If serving later, cover the surface of the guacamole with plastic wrap to limit air exposure before refrigerating.

Notes

For best flavor, serve fresh and at room temperature with tortilla chips or as a topping on tacos and burritos. Nutrient-rich and customizable!
