  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 30 oz frozen hash browns
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 onion diced onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion together until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef, hash browns, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Stir in 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Top with the remaining cheese.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly, with a golden brown top.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole is best enjoyed hot, and can be served with a sprinkle of parsley or green onions. It pairs well with side salads, garlic bread, or biscuits. For storage, keep leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days in the fridge or freeze for 2-3 months.
