Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and baking powder.
  • In another bowl, mix applesauce, almond milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients until a dough forms.

Cooking

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Shape the dough into small bite-sized pieces.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the churro bites in a single layer.
  • Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serving

  • In a small bowl, mix more coconut sugar with cinnamon, and toss the churro bites in the mixture while they’re still warm.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Serve warm with a sprinkle of cinnamon or coconut sugar on top, and pair with chocolate sauce or fruit for dipping. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. Refrigerate for up to a week and reheat in the air fryer.
