Heart Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies
Delicious heart-shaped cookies loaded with gooey chocolate chips, perfect for celebrations and special occasions like Valentine's Day.
Ingredients
Butter and Sugars
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temp
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar 100 grams
- 1 cup brown sugar 220 grams
Wet Ingredients
- 2 large eggs, at room temp
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour 360 grams
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Chocolate and Toppings
- 1 3/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 4 oz. dark chocolate, chopped
- Flakey sea salt, for topping
- Sprinkles, for decoration (if desired)
Instructions
Preparation
- Cream the butter and sugars together until creamy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla. Mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients and mix.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients to the mixer. Combine them carefully to avoid over-mixing.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Use a cookie scoop to form 26 cookie balls and chill them in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Place six cookie balls on a baking sheet.
- Bake for about 8-9 minutes. Then, add the chopped dark chocolate on top and bake for an additional 4-5 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and add sprinkles and flakey sea salt while warm.
- If you want, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to shape the cookies after they cool slightly.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely on a cooling rack and then store them in an airtight container.
Notes
Allow the butter to soften to room temperature for the right texture. Chill the cookie dough to help with shaping and to prevent spreading while baking. Add more chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey flavor. Experiment with different toppings, like nuts or different types of chocolate.
