Ingredients
  

Crust

  • 1 package Oreo cookies Crushed
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Room temperature for easier mixing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup cool whip Can substitute with homemade whipped cream
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor

Garnish

  • to taste Lemon zest For topping before serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a zip-top bag, crush the Oreo cookies until fine crumbs.
  • Pour in the melted butter and mix well. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish to form a solid crust.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Gently fold in the cool whip and lemon juice until the mixture is well combined and light.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the Oreo crust.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the dessert to set firmly.

Serving

  • Before serving, top the dessert with fresh lemon zest.
  • Cut into squares and serve chilled.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Can be frozen by wrapping individual pieces tightly for up to 2 months.
