Ingredients
  

For the cookies

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder For a richer flavor, dark cocoa powder can be used.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is softened to room temperature.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring Can be substituted for different colors for themed cookies.
  • to taste Hershey's Kisses chocolates Use for topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg, milk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until well combined.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • Once out of the oven, immediately press a Hershey's Kiss into the center of each cookie.
  • Allow cookies to cool before serving.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Can freeze cookies for up to three months. Let thaw at room temperature before serving.
