Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or cooked sausage.
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced Use any variety of potatoes.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Other soup options include cream of chicken or cream of celery.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or mozzarella can be used.
  • 1 large onion, chopped Adds flavor to the dish.
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned. Drain any excess fat.

Layering and Baking

  • In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  • Top with the cooked beef mixture, then add the remaining potatoes.
  • Pour the cream of mushroom soup over the top and spread it evenly.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Cover with foil and bake for about 1 hour.
  • Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Best served warm. Can be enjoyed on its own or with a salad or bread. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge before reheating.
