  • 1 pound mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) Use fresh, ripe berries for the best flavor.
  • 1 pound pound cake, cut into cubes Sponge cake or ladyfingers can be used as alternatives.
  • 2 cups whipped cream or whipped topping For a lighter version, use low-fat whipped topping.
  • 1 cup vanilla pudding (optional) Sugar-free pudding can be used for a lighter version.
  • to taste Mint leaves for garnish (optional) Add for color and freshness.

Preparation

  • In a large trifle bowl, layer half of the pound cake cubes at the bottom.
  • Add half of the mixed berries on top of the cake layer.
  • Spoon half of the whipped cream over the berries and cake. If using, add a layer of vanilla pudding.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining pound cake, berries, and whipped cream.
  • Garnish with mint leaves if desired.
  • Chill for at least an hour before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Best enjoyed within the first day or two for optimal flavor and presentation. You can customize this trifle by incorporating different fruits or cake bases.
