Main Ingredients

  • 10 pieces lemons Use organic lemons if possible.
  • 4 cups sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 liter vodka

Preparation

  • Zest the lemons and combine the zest with vodka in a jar.
  • Let the mixture sit for at least 7 days in a cool, dark place.

Making the Syrup

  • After 7 days, make a simple syrup by dissolving sugar in water over low heat; allow it to cool.

Combining

  • Strain the lemon-vodka mixture and combine it with the syrup.
  • Bottle the limoncello and let it chill in the freezer before serving.

Notes

Homemade limoncello is best served chilled. Pour it into small glasses and enjoy neat or over ice. It can also be used in cocktails or drizzled over desserts.
