Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups white cheese (like queso blanco or Monterey Jack)
  • 1 cup milk use room temperature for easier blending
  • 1 tablespoon butter melt gently to avoid browning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, adjust for spice level
  • to taste Salt adjust according to preference
  • to taste Fresh cilantro for garnish optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Let it melt completely but watch closely to avoid browning (about 1-2 minutes).
  • Add the milk and stir until warmed, taking care not to let it boil (aim for about 3 minutes).
  • Gradually add the white cheese to the milk, stirring constantly until melted and smooth. This should take around 5-7 minutes; you want the cheese to be uniformly blended and creamy.
  • Mix in the garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. Feel free to adjust the salt according to your taste.
  • Continue stirring until everything is well combined and heated through, about 2-3 more minutes.

Serving

  • Serve warm, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired for a burst of color and flavor.

Notes

To store leftovers, pour the dip into an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days, or freeze it for up to a month. Reheat gently on the stovetop to restore creaminess.
