Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 10 oz linguine
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • pinch red pepper flakes (optional) for a spicy kick
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by cooking the linguine according to the package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through, stirring occasionally. Drain any excess fat.

Cooking

  • Add minced garlic to the skillet with the browned beef and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the brown sugar, beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ground ginger, ground black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Mix thoroughly.
  • In a small bowl, create a slurry by mixing the cornstarch with water. Add this mixture to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the drained linguine to the skillet, tossing gently until well coated in the sauce.

Serving

  • Garnish the dish with sliced green onions and serve hot.

Notes

Best enjoyed hot. Can be paired with a cucumber salad or steamed broccoli for added crunch.
