Ingredients
  

Cake Layers

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Using a light hand when measuring keeps it fluffy.
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder For rich chocolatey depth.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar Balances the cocoa beautifully.
  • 1 tbsp baking powder Ensures cake rises to perfection.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Enhances all flavors.
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature) For better batter blending.
  • 1 cup whole milk Adds moisture and richness.
  • 2 tsps vanilla extract Adds aroma to the cake.

Frosting

  • 1 cup softened butter Base of the cream cheese frosting.
  • 4 cups powdered sugar Adds lightness to the frosting.
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened) Adds tang and creamy texture.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease three round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.

Mixing Ingredients

  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  • In another bowl, blend together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and then incorporate into the dry ingredients gently.
  • Divide the batter into three portions. Flavor one with melted chocolate, another with pureed strawberries, and leave the third as vanilla.

Baking

  • Pour each flavored batter into its respective prepared pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool completely before frosting.

Frosting

  • Spread cream cheese frosting between the layers and cover the entire cake.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better blending. Ensure cakes are completely cool before frosting. Leftover cake can be used in a dessert trifle.
