Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened for better mixing.
  • 1 cup orange juice Fresh orange juice adds more flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs

For the frosting

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest For extra orange flavor, feel free to add more.

For decoration

  • Fresh orange slices For topping the cake.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the orange juice until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting

  • For the frosting, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and orange zest until stiff peaks form.
  • Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top.
  • Place the second layer on top, then frost the top and sides of the cake.
  • Decorate with fresh orange slices.

Serving

  • Serve chilled or at room temperature.
  • Enjoy it alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream or some whipped cream.

Notes

Cover the cake with plastic wrap or place it in an airtight container. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For longer storage, you can freeze the cake layers without frosting.
