Pudding and Toppings

  • 14.3 oz Oreos Crushed for layering
  • 12.8 oz Hot Fudge Plus extra for drizzling
  • 3.4 oz Hershey’s Dark Chocolate Instant Pudding Mix Use two packages
  • C Milk Divided
  • 1 container Cool Whip May use dairy-free options
  • Optional Extra Hot Fudge & Oreos For garnishing

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven as per the instructions on the cake mix box.
  • Combine the chocolate fudge cake mix with the specified ingredients from the box until fully blended and smooth.
  • Pour the batter into a 9×13” pan and bake for 22-28 minutes. Check doneness with a toothpick.
  • Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes.
  • While the cake is still warm, poke holes all over the top using a wooden spoon or round object.
  • Heat the jar of hot fudge sauce in the microwave for about 30-60 seconds and pour it over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.

Pudding Layer

  • Allow the cake to cool completely. Whisk together one package of dark chocolate instant pudding with 1¾ cups of cold milk.
  • Pour this pudding mixture over the fudge-soaked cake and refrigerate for about 15 minutes to set.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the second package of pudding with the remaining 1¾ cups of milk and refrigerate until thickens.

Combining Layers

  • Crush about ¾ of the Oreos in a large Ziploc bag with a rolling pin.
  • Fold in a container of Cool Whip into the pudding mixture and gently mix in the crushed Oreos.
  • Spread this Oreo mixture over the cooled pudding on the cake and drizzle with reserved hot fudge. Top with remaining whole Oreos.

Serving

  • Keep the cake refrigerated until serving. For the best texture, chill for at least an hour before slicing.

Notes

Oreo Dirt Pie is best served chilled. For a nice presentation, consider garnishing with additional whipped topping and crushed Oreos.
