  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed The more spots, the sweeter.
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter Creamy peanut butter recommended.
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Maple syrup for a vegan option.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, applesauce, peanut butter, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  • Stir in the rolled oats, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into bars.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. Bars freeze well for up to three months.
