Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 box Yellow cake mix Or other flavored cake mix like spice or butter pecan.
  • 1 cup Pecans Toasted pecans preferred for enhanced flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar Dark brown sugar adds richness.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Melted, for the base.
  • 1 cup Hot water or milk To pour over the mixture.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  • If desired, toast half of the pecans in the oven for 5-7 minutes until fragrant.

Layering

  • Pour the melted butter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Layer half of the pecans over the melted butter.
  • Sprinkle half of the brown sugar over the pecans.
  • Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the layer of brown sugar.
  • Add the remaining brown sugar and pecans on top of the cake mix.
  • Pour hot water (or milk) evenly over the entire mixture. Do not stir.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.

Serving

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful treat.

Notes

Pecan dump cake can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat at 300°F for 10-15 minutes before serving.
