  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups pretzels, crushed Make sure to crush the pretzels well for a nice coating.
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 pieces eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated You can experiment with different cheeses like mozzarella or pepper jack.
  • 1/4 cup mustard (Dijon or yellow) You can substitute with your favorite dipping sauce for a different taste.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season chicken breasts appropriately.
  • Olive oil or cooking spray To spray the coated chicken.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a shallow dish, place the flour. In another dish, add the beaten eggs. In a third dish, mix the crushed pretzels with salt and pepper.
  • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Dredge each piece in flour, dip into the beaten eggs, and then coat with the pretzel mixture.
  • Place the coated chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spray lightly with olive oil.

Cooking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and golden brown.
  • While the chicken is baking, mix the cheddar cheese and mustard in a small bowl.
  • Serve the pretzel chicken with the mustard-cheddar sauce on the side.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store the Pretzel Chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving again. Grilling is also an option, but adjust the cooking time accordingly.
