Ingredients

For the Roast

  • 1 piece Prime Rib Bone-in roast
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • to taste Garlic powder
  • to taste Onion powder
  • to taste Olive oil

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • Rub the prime rib with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Cooking

  • Place the roast in a roasting pan and cook in the oven for about 15 minutes.
  • Reduce the heat to 325°F (163°C) and continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (about 1.5 hours for medium rare).
  • Remove from the oven and let rest for 20 minutes.
  • Sear the roast on the stove in a hot skillet for a few minutes to create a crust before serving.

Notes

Let the prime rib sit at room temperature for about an hour before cooking for even cooking. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature for the best results. For extra flavor, consider adding herbs like rosemary or thyme to the rub. A slow and steady cooking method will yield a juicier roast, so avoid rushing the process. If storing leftovers, wrap tightly and refrigerate for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
