Ingredients
  

For the pastry puffs

  • 1 package 1 (17.3-oz) package puff pastry, defrosted Ensure the puff pastry is fully defrosted before use.
  • 3/4 pound 3/4 pound pulled pork Use well-shredded pulled pork for easy filling.
  • 3/4 cup 3/4 cup BBQ sauce Choose your favorite BBQ sauce for varied flavor.
  • 1 1/4 cups 1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to experiment with different cheeses.
  • 1 large 1 egg, beaten This will be used for egg wash.
  • 1 Tbsp 1 Tbsp water Use to mix with the beaten egg for egg wash.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Unfold the pastry sheets and cut each sheet into 9 squares.
  • In a bowl, toss the pulled pork with the BBQ sauce. Arrange this mix down the center of each pastry square, adding some shredded cheese on top.
  • Fold two opposite corners of each pastry square over the filling and press the edges to seal.
  • Place the filled pastries on the prepared baking sheet.

Baking

  • In a small bowl, combine the beaten egg with water. Brush this egg wash over each pastry.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until they turn golden brown.

Serving

  • Serve warm or at room temperature. Optionally, serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in an oven at 350 degrees F until warmed through. You can also freeze the unbaked pastries for later use.
