Brownie Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring

Cheesecake Filling Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  • In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix until smooth.
  • Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  • In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and egg until smooth.

Assembly and Baking

  • Pour half of the brownie batter into the pan. Spread the cream cheese mixture over it, then drop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter on top. Use a knife to swirl.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

Serve brownies warm or at room temperature. Can be enjoyed plain or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Dust with powdered sugar for extra flair.
