Ingredients
  

Potato Layers

  • 4 large large potatoes, thinly sliced

Cream Sauce

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper to taste

Cheese Topping

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Finishing Touches

  • 2 tablespoons butter Dot on top before baking

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.

Make Cream Sauce

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  • Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes.
  • Sprinkle half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the top.

Layer and Bake

  • Layer the remaining potato slices and repeat the cream and cheese steps.
  • Dot the top with butter.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.

Notes

Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley or chives for extra flavor. Store leftover scalloped potatoes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
